Crafted Creatures crafter -in-chief
Jayne Tunnicliffe
I am a multidisciplinary artist with a BA (Hons) in Art and Design, and a career that has taken me from stage to screen as well as into the world of craft. My creative journey began as a performance poet and later as a musical stand-up comedian, before moving into acting and writing for television. Over the years, I’ve appeared in numerous TV shows, including Happy Valley, and spent four years in Coronation Street (2004–2007) playing Yana Lumb, the chip-shop worker and best friend of Cilla Battersby Brown. As a writer, I’ve worked with some of Britain’s best-loved entertainers, including Paul O’Grady and Peter Kay, and contributed to long-running shows such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
Alongside acting and writing, I’ve always had a deep love of making and creating, whether through art, design, or craft. That passion eventually led to the birth of Crafted Creatures in 2015. Inspired by my love of animals—hares in particular—and my commitment to recycling and reusing fabric, I began to design and sew unique textile creations. What started as a small side project has grown into a thriving practice, with my work sold online and at selected craft fairs.
Every piece I create is made with care, imagination, and a touch of storytelling—drawing from my background in performance as much as my passion for nature and folklore. Crafted Creatures celebrates individuality, creativity, and the joy of giving new life to fabric through art.
